How Does It Work?
The Intensive Alternative Family Treatment (IAFT) Program is a new community-based therapeutic program piloted for the State by Barium Springs, now known as Children’s Hope Alliance. The program provides a therapeutic family style treatment with trained professional parents in the community. IAFT is a placement option for youth who may be hard to place due to past treatment failures, significant behavioral and emotional challenges and the need for out of home care.
Program Highlights
- Teaching Family Model is founded on belief that all children have the potential and capacity to learn and grow, regardless of their upbringing, trauma and experiences. The model provides children with an emotionally and physically safe environment which promotes confidence, skill development and the fostering of healthy interpersonal relationships.
- Every child requiring placement is closely matched with a therapeutic foster family who is willing and able to meet the needs of that child.
- All Foster Parents licensed with CHA have received over 40 hours of training and are licensed as Therapeutic Foster Parents
- Youth placed with CHA are linked with all educational, medical and mental health services required to ensure their success.
- All Therapeutic Foster Parents are assigned a Foster Care Case Manager and Recruiter/Trainer, from the forefront of licensure to provide a wrap-around level of support on their fostering journey.
